In Extra Software we join the Lifeguard Project
In Spain, 40% of deaths of people under 75 years of age are due to cardiovascular diseases,
and sudden cardiac arrest is responsible for more than 60%
of deaths of adults due to coronary disease. This represents a total of more
than 65,000 lives in Spain per year. But more importantly, more than 6,000
people can be rescued with the help of non-medical personnel in public places
trained in basic life support techniques and availability of defibrillators.
That is why at Extra Software Madrid (Calle Núñez de Balboa, 35-A, 6ºA) we
joined the Lifeguard project and became a cardioprotective space.
The Lifeguard Project aims to encourage and promote measures
to raise awareness about the importance of heart protection and provide
institutions, companies, associations and schools with the materials and
training they need to deal with cardiac arrest
That is why at Extra Software we join the Lifeguard project
and we are a cardioprotective space. In other words, we have a defibrillator
and personnel trained in basic life support in the event of myocardial
infarction. These techniques can help maintain vital functions and prevent
cardiac and respiratory arrest (sudden and unexpected cessation of heart
activity).
The cardioprotective spaces are important because 40% of
coronary heart diseases are sudden death (occurring in less than 24 hours). The
probability of survival is estimated to be 10% lower for every minute that has
passed since cardiac arrest and respiration, so after 10 minutes the chances
are minimal. At Extra Software we have already learned what to do in such a situation.
How to save a life with Project Rescuer
1-The first step is to call 112 (the number is valid for all
of Europe), clearly indicating who is calling, where they are calling from, the
reason for the call and where the victim is.
Second, basic life support methods (cardiopulmonary recovery
with cardiac massage and insufflation) can double or triple the chance of
survival:
3-Third, early defibrillation is the key to surviving and
gaining access to the defibrillator as soon as possible (at least in the first
4 minutes after an emergency occurs):
4-Finally, advanced life support and post-resuscitation
measures must be carried out by trained medical personnel (hence the importance
of calling 112 in the first moments).
Defibrillators and personnel trained in cardiac arrest and
respiratory arrest can reverse up to 90% of defibrillation in the first minute.
Therefore, in our company, we do not hesitate to join Project Rescuer with a
defibrillator and the necessary training to save lives if necessary.
